Q: Drive-In Airshow FAQ's


The 2021 Wings Over North Georgia will once again be a “Drive-In Air Show" model parking vehicles (including an adjacent tailgate viewing area) on Rome's Russell Regional Airport flightline.  This format will allow a limited number of vehicles to attend the daily airshow.  Based on the current world conditions, Floyd County and the State of Georgia, WONG is adhering to social distancing & health measures currently in place by all entities. This is an ADVANCE ONLY Drive-In parking ticket being offered.  There will be NO DAY OF SHOW parking tickets available this year.  All Airfield Drive-In Parking Tickets are limited availability and Advance Only.

WARNING: Under Georgia law, there is no liability for an injury or death of an individual entering the Russell Regional Airport property.  If such injury or death results from the inherent risks of contracting COVID-19, you are assuming the risk by entering these premises.

With the overwhelming endorsement from airshow attendess we will be continuing the Drive-In model for the 2021 show. If the guidelines allow at show time we may add some of the following: static displays, exhibitors, vendor and the kids zone. WONG will maintain open lines of communication with officials and attendees to keep the health and safety of everyone and an exciting airshow paramount.

Q. What is the location of the Wings Over North Georgia Airshow?

A. 304 Russell Field Rd, NE. Rome, GA 30165

Q. Is the Airshow the same both Saturday and Sunday? 

A. Yes. Performances are normally the same each day!  Scheduled events, performers, teams & activities are subject to cancel and/or change without prior notice -- weather, mechanical, or medical issues may force a team and/or performer to adjust and/or cancel their performance.  Any performer cancelation does not qualify as a show cancellation and/or ticket refund.  ALL TICKETING SALES ARE FINAL!

Q.  Will I need to purchase a ticket for everyone in my vehicle?

A.  No, only one Airfield Parking Pass (ticket) is needed per vehicle. Saturday & Sunday Airfield Parking Passes will be available while the limited supplies last.

Q.  May I purchase a ticket onsite the day of show?

A.  NO, all Airfield Parking Passes (tickets) are only available online in advance since they are so limited. You may purchase via the WONG website or by calling the ticket company ETIX at 1-800-514-3849

Q.  Is there a limit to how many people can join me in my vehicle?

A.  The maximum amount of people per vehicle is based on the number of manufactured seatbelts installed. This is for safety reasons, as well as for your groups viewing enjoyment. The drive-in format offers an amazing opportunity to fill your car with the people that you are comfortable being with in a close proximity space.

Q.  May I cancel or receive a refund for my tickets?

A.  No. Once purchased, there are no refunds. 

ACTS OF GOD -- This is an outdoor event — should any local, state, federal, military, or FAA entities determine we can not host the airshow due to matters beyond our control such as Weather, COVID or other Acts of God, all advance ticket purchases will be honored at the next Wings Over North Georgia Air Show.  Under Georgia Law, there is no liability for an injury or death of an individual entering the Russell Regional Airport property.  

Q.  How are the Airfield Parking Spaces configured? (Diagrams) 

A.  Front Row and Second Row Airfield Parking Dimensions (while they last): 

10’ x 25’ Vehicle and adjacent 10’ x 25’ Private Front Row Viewing Area

A.  General Airfield Parking Dimensions (limited availability):

10’ x 20’ Vehicle and adjacent 10’ x 20’ Private Viewing Area

Q.  What if my vehicle is Oversized?

A.  Vehicles over 20’ in length can not be accommodated to insure maximum viewing for all guests. Should you have an RV, please visit the Premium Infield Camping as an option. 

Q. Is there an Exit Plan once the show is over?

A. Yes, please reference the Diagram Maps. Based on where you are parked please follow the exit directions (to come). 

Q. Will there be Designated Handicap Parking areas?

A.  Yes, there will be designated handicap parking areas available. A hard surface area will be designated for handicap parking guests. Only authorized handicap vehicles will be allowed to park in these limited locations with the proper vehicle credentials. 

Q. Is General Aviation Fly-In available this year?

A. No, not this year. The ramp space will be utilitzed for the Drive-In vehicles. 

Q.  Will the Drive-in take place if it rains?

A.  Should it rain, performance times may be adjusted and/or the performers may modify their ceiling levels to work around weather. However, in the case of severe weather, you will be notified via FM Radio and/or Loudspeakers to remain in your vehicle until the show is cleared to re-start.

Q.  Will the show be canceled if the jet team(s) were to be canceled by the military?

A.  No, unless WONG is forced to cancel the fall show by the government, the show will remain as scheduled.  Scheduled events, performers, teams & activities are subject to cancel and/or change without prior notice -- weather, mechanical, or medical issues may force a team and/or performer to adjust and/or cancel their performance.  Any performer cancelation does not qualify as a show cancellation and/or ticket refund.  ALL TICKETING SALES ARE FINAL! 

Q. Where can I find a Schedule of Events?

Q.  When should I arrive onsite?

A.  Drive-In Parking airport entry gates will open at 10:00 AM, approximately 2-hours prior to the event start time. The earlier you arrive the closer you will be parked to the show line. Early arrivals will enjoy the aerial pre-show activities! 

Q.  How will I be checked-in?

A.  Drive-in airshow tickets will be scanned upon arrival. To expedite this process, please have your ticket ready either printed or ready on your phone. Parking staff will guide you to the next available parking spot.

Q. Are Pets Allowed?

A. Pets are NOT allowed within the air show venue. (Service Animals are admitted with hosts). 

Q.  What items may I bring for my Private Viewing Area?

A.  The following items ARE ALLOWED:

  • Tables and Chairs
  • Chair Umbrellas 
  • Coolers to include Food & Beverage
  • Service Animals are allowed with hosts

A.  The following items ARE PROHIBITED:

  • Tents & Umbrellas
  • Grills
  • Generators
  • Animals
  • Alcoholic Beverages/Narcotics/Weapons
  • Golf Carts, ATV’s, Bikes, Skates, Skateboards, Roller Blades

Q.  May I bring my own drinks and snacks to the Airshow?

A.  Yes, you can bring in your own food and beverage, although there will be food & beverage vendors on site. Remember, alcohol is strictly prohibited with this Drive-In format. All local laws regarding consumption of alcohol will be in effect and enforced. There will be Trash containers throughout the parking rows, please be courteous and use them for your waste. 

Q.  Will there be restrooms?

A.  Clean and sanitized Porta Potty’s, as well as Wash Stations will be located throughout the parking areas, as well as Accessible Units. The units will be routinely sanitized every hour throughout the day. 

Q.  Will smoking be allowed in your private viewing area?

A.  No, there will be designated smoking areas throughout the parking areas.  If you were to experience problems with this issue, please notify our roving security teams.  

Q.  May I keep my car engine on throughout the Airshow?

A.  Car engines and headlights should be turned off during the Airshow. Minimum engine use please during the event. If you experience any car troubles, please stop a security officer or parking attendant for assistance.

Q.  How will I be able to listen to the Airshow? Upon arrival guests will be provided the FM radio signal frequency. Show speakers will also be positioned throughout the venue. Bringing a portable radio would be a good idea! 

Q.  Are Masks required?

A.  We do encourage all attendees to wear a mask if away from your private area, as well as maintaining social distancing.

Q.  What if I need to leave prior to the end of the Airshow?

A.  Please notify a parking attendant or security officer before moving your vehicle.
