Q: Airshow FAQ's


The 2021 Wings Over North Georgia will once again be a “Drive-In Air Show" model parking vehicles (including an adjacent tailgate viewing area) on Rome's Russell Regional Airport flightline.  This format will allow for a limited number of vehicles to attend the daily airshow.  This is an ADVANCE ONLY Drive-In parking ticket being offered.  There will be NO DAY OF SHOW parking tickets available this year.  All Airfield Drive-In Parking Tickets are Advance Only Sales.

WARNING: Under Georgia law, there is no liability for an injury or death of an individual entering the Russell Regional Airport property.  If such injury or death results from the inherent risks of contracting COVID-19, you are assuming the risk by entering these premises. COVID-19: Due to the inherit risks of contracting the diesease, guests entering the Wings Over North Georgia airshow agree to do so at their own risk.  Patrons attending will not hold the Wings Over North Georgia, LLC; Russell Regional Airport; Floyd County. its employees, volunteers, elected officials, or any and all enties, associates and team memebrs liable.

Q. Why a Drive-In Airshow for 2021?

A. The Drive-in Airshow model was an overwhelming success in 2020. With the state of Covid last November (2020) when tickets went on sale for the 2021 show, remaining with the drive-in model was the best course. Once we committed to the Drive-In format, there is no way to change models in midstream. We plan to use a Hybrid Drive-In model for the show this October 30-31, 2021.  The Hybrid Drive-in model allows our guest to freely walk around and enjoy the attractions to include: food & beverage vendors, exhibitors, military vehicle displays recruitors & statics, helicopter rides, premium seating and the popular Kids Zone. 

Q. What is the location of the Wings Over North Georgia Airshow?

A. 304 Russell Field Rd, NE. Rome, GA 30165

Q. Is the Airshow the same both Saturday and Sunday? 

A. Yes. Show days are normally the same, unless weather, mechanical, or performer issues force a team and/or performer to adjust and/or cancel. 

Q.  Will I need to purchase a ticket for everyone in my vehicle?

A.  No, only one Airfield Parking Pass (ticket) is needed per vehicle. Saturday & Sunday Airfield Parking Passes will be available while the limited supplies last.

Q.  May I purchase a ticket onsite the day of show?

A.  No, all Airfield Parking Passes (tickets) are only available online in advance with the limited availability.

Q.  Is there a limit to how many people can join me in my vehicle?

A.  The maximum amount of people per vehicle is based on the number of manufactured seatbelts installed, for safety reasons. The drive-in format offers an amazing opportunity to fill your car with your friends and family.  

Q.  May I cancel or receive a refund for my tickets?

A.  All sales are final; no refunds are available.  

Q.  How are the Airfield Parking Spaces configured? (Diagrams)

Q.  What if my vehicle is Oversized?

A.  There will be a limited number of spaces for oversized vehicles in the back of Section E (25' x 50').  Call the airshow office for pricing and to reserve a space (706-291-0030). 

Q. Is there an Exit Plan once the show is over?

A. Yes, upon arrival you will be given a venue map. The map will point out various important areas of interest. As important it will show the Exit that you will use based on where you are parked.  

Q. Will there be Designated Handicap Parking areas?

A.  Yes, there will be designated handicap parking areas (Section B Only) available.  It's a hard asphalt surface area designated for handicap parking guests. Only authorized handicap vehicles will be allowed to park in this limited location with the proper vehicle credentials. 

Q. Is General Aviation Fly-In available this year?

A. No, not this year. All available ramp space will be utilitzed for the Drive-In vehicles. 

Q.  Will the Drive-in take place if it rains?

A.  Yes, the Air Show is subject to weather conditions. The schedule may need to be modified to work around inclement weather. You will be notified via FM radio and/or loudspeakers for instruction as to changes in the schedule and/or to remain in your vehicle until the show is cleared to re-start.

Q.  Will the show be canceled if the jet team(s) were to be canceled by the military?

A.  No, unless WONG is forced to cancel the fall show by the government, the show will remain as scheduled.   

Q. Where can I find a Schedule of Events?

Q.  When should I arrive onsite?

A.  Airport entry gates will open at 9:00 AM, approximately 3-hours prior to the event start time. The earlier you arrive the closer you will be parked to the show line. Early arrivals will enjoy the aerial pre-show activities from 1000-1130! 

Q.  How will I be checked-in?

A.  Drive-in airshow tickets will be scanned upon arrival. To expedite this process, please have your ticket ready either printed or ready on your phone. Parking staff will guide you to the next available parking spot.

Q. Are Pets Allowed?

A. Pets are NOT allowed within the air show venue. (Service Animals are admitted with hosts). 

Q.  What items may I bring for my Private Viewing Area?

A.  The following items ARE ALLOWED:

  • Tables and Chairs
  • Chair Umbrellas 
  • Coolers to include Food & Beverage
  • Service Animals are allowed with hosts

A.  The following items ARE PROHIBITED:

  • Tents & Umbrellas
  • Grills
  • Generators
  • Animals
  • Alcoholic Beverages/Narcotics/Weapons
  • Golf Carts, ATV’s, Bikes, Skates, Skateboards, Roller Blades

Q.  May I bring my own drinks and snacks to the Airshow?

A.  Yes, you can bring in your own food and beverage, although there will be numerous food & beverage vendors on site. Remember, alcohol is strictly prohibited with this Drive-In format. All local laws regarding consumption of alcohol will be in effect and enforced. There will be Trash containers throughout the parking rows, please be courteous and use them for your waste. 

Q.  Will there be restrooms?

A.  Clean and sanitized Porta Potty’s, as well as Wash Stations will be located throughout the parking areas, as well as Accessible Units. The units will be routinely sanitized throughout the day. 

Q.  Will smoking be allowed in your private viewing area?

A.  No, there will be designated smoking areas throughout the parking areas.  If you were to experience problems with this issue, please notify our roving security teams.  

Q.  May I keep my car engine on throughout the Airshow?

A.  Car engines and headlights should be turned off during the Airshow. Minimum engine use please during the event. If you experience any car troubles, please stop a security officer or parking attendant for assistance.

Q.  How will I be able to listen to the Airshow? Upon arrival guests will be provided the FM radio signal frequency. It is recommended that you bring a portable radio to listen. Show speakers will also be positioned throughout the venue.

Q.  What if I need to leave prior to the end of the Airshow?

A.  Please notify a parking attendant or security officer before moving your vehicle.
